"My passion for photography began, I think, at age five.  At the time, my mother and I lived in Italy.  We traveled often , and I was given the opportunity to be exposed to many forms of art.  As beautiful and inspiring as it all may have been, the one piece that awed me most was a black and white portrait of my cousin as a baby.  It was huge, almost the size of the sofa it hung above, and exceptionally made.  I did not know why it fascinated me so (maybe the sheer size), but I stared at it each time we would visit.  Now, I understand.  As a photographer, each day is an endeavour to create images that will be remembered so.  Accurate exposure, lighting, posing are all essential, but life, love, tenderness, and those bonds within it, are exquisite.  And so now, as a mother, not only do I appreciate photography for its purity and beauty, but for its relevance in capturing those moments in life that will never happen again and deserve to be documented."
